Chiltone Records are proud to present the new long player by Hobart song writing stalwarts Hey Mook.
The self titled fourth album was recorded and mastered at Red Planet Studios with multi award winning engineer and producer Stew Long (2 Amplified Awards for Best Tasmanian Studio) and once again was mixed and produced by the band in their back shed.
This album finds the Mooks in a reflective, story telling mode, drawing on intimate personal tales and the dark, deep past of the city they love.
The band has drawn on its musical heritage to provide a record that has something for everyone from Claverance Barker, the delicate acoustic guitar driven tale of 19th century S and M to the no holds barred rock romp of Kick it to Me- inspired by a day at the 'G' or an alcohol fueled night on the couch cursing the men in white.
This record will grow on you and if you don't believe us then here is what others have had to say about the band that resides under the underground:
"Hi Bill, I've got to tell you - i love that Hey Mook album you sent me. I listen to it almost every day. I think they must be one of Australia's greatest unknown bands." Toby Martin (Youth Group)
"Hey Mook are the best thing to come out of Tasmania since I left! In all seriousness all three of Hey Mook's albums have been a revelation of song writing, ideas and musicianship. Theirs is a constantly evolving mixture of Americana, roots and pop, coupled with a healthy dose of plain weirdness. And how can you not love a band who name check Charlie Rich? Give them a listen" Stuart Coupe (Laughing Outlaw Records)
A stripped down Hey Mook will be appearring on 3CR at 7p.m. on Sat 21st of April
