Hey Mook are on a soul searching, aural soothing quest. Opening track Everything provides a solid framework for the album and I signed a heartbeat with it's upbeat and frantic groove provide an os-so appropriate and tasteful change of pace. Final track, $50 Haircut gently mocks our consumerist society. Lead singer Simon Cruickshank sings You're just a fifty dollar haircut / on a five dollar head / with a thousand dollar smile / and a soul full of lead. Clever, quirky pop that works. Never gets you anywhere is a superb release.
